Acupuncture and TCM

Acupuncture is one of the key components of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  Acupuncture needles, moxa heat therapy, and gua sha massage are all used to stimulate points on the body. This is an effective treatment for injuries and pain, digestive conditions, stress management, infertility, and other hormonal imbalances.

Clinical Nutrition

Dietary assessment, food sensitivity testing, and blood tests may be used to identify which foods contribute to your health concerns and which foods will promote optimal health. Treatment may include dietary plans, shopping and meal planning suggestions, and appropriate nutritional supplements.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is used as an effective treatment for a variety of conditions. Medicinal herbs may be used in the form of capsules, teas or liquids (tinctures). Chinese herbal formulas are often used to treat fertility and hormonal issues.

Pharmaceutical Medicine

Naturopathic Doctors in BC are licensed to prescribe prescription medications.  In select cases, drug therapy may be indicated for treatment. Some “natural” substances such as desiccated thyroid, some amino acids, high dose vitamins, and bioidentical hormones also fall under the category of prescription medication.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is the hands-on use of techniques to address acute and chronic pain. Treatment begins with the assessment of structural imbalance, injury, or muscle strain. Physical therapy may include the use of spinal manipulation, massage, ultrasound, diathermy, and acupuncture with electro-stimulation.

Intravenous and Injection Therapy

Intramuscular and intravenous injections are used to introduce vitamins and minerals directly into the bloodstream.  This allows nutrients to bypass the digestive system and provides higher absorption than what could be achieved with oral supplementation. Vitamin injections are useful in acute and chronic infectious illnesses, autoimmune conditions, cardiovascular disease, and chronic digestive disorders. Those with chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, stress, and general nutritional depletion may also benefit from I.V. treatments.

Homepathy

Homeopathy involves the use of specific remedies derived from plant, animal, or mineral substances. Complex Homeopathy involves the use of combinations of remedies that promote gentle detoxification and stimulate proper cellular function. Homeopathy is particularly effective for use with children, in pregnancy, and with sensitive individuals.
